About this piece

Painted over four mornings in a room that only gets sun for an hour. The stag is laid in with a single loaded brush, wet into wet, and the gold is applied last while the ink is still open so the leaf catches in the tooth of the paper. Nothing here is reworked; what you see is the first and only pass.
